Introduction:
Estrogen is the most widely used hormone in the world, particularly for those in the reproductive system. It is a popular female sex hormone, having been used to treat infertility, and is widely used for other conditions. However, its use is often associated with side effects, especially among women. In this study, we examined the effect of estradiol cream on vaginal health and treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA), a condition characterized by atrophy of the vaginal walls and vulvovaginal epithelium in the female reproductive tract. A prospective, randomized, double-blind study was conducted at the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Krakow, Poland, to evaluate the effect of topical estradiol cream on the vaginal health and treatment of vulvovaginal atrophy. Vaginal biopsies of women were collected at baseline, after two weeks of topical estradiol cream, and at weeks 4, 12, and 24. At baseline, vaginal biopsies were also collected in all the participants. Vaginal examinations were performed at the same time. Vaginal biopsies of women who had undergone vaginal ultrasound examinations and were treated with estradiol cream were also evaluated. Vaginal biopsies of patients who received a topical cream and those who received no cream at all were evaluated at each time point (0-6 weeks). At each time point, all patients were followed up. The patients treated with topical estradiol cream were also evaluated at weeks 4, 12, and 24. After four weeks of therapy, the vaginal photographs were taken at baseline, at weeks 4, 12, and 24, and vaginal biopsies were also evaluated at the same time point. Vaginal photographs were also recorded at weeks 4, 12, and 24. At the end of the study, the mean vaginal photographs were significantly higher in women treated with topical estradiol cream than in those treated with no cream. Vaginal biopsies of women who had undergone vaginal ultrasound examinations and were treated with topical estradiol cream were also evaluated. Vaginal biopsies of women who had undergone vaginal ultrasound examinations and were treated with topical estradiol cream were also evaluated at each time point (0-6 weeks). Vaginal biopsies of patients who had undergone vaginal ultrasound examinations and were treated with topical estradiol cream were also evaluated at each time point (0-6 weeks).
Results:The vaginal photographs at baseline, at weeks 4, 12, and 24 were significantly higher in women treated with topical estradiol cream than in those treated with no cream at all (p < 0.0001) and were significantly higher than those in women who received topical estradiol cream (p < 0.0001). Vaginal biopsies of women who had undergone vaginal ultrasound examinations and were treated with topical estradiol cream were also significantly higher than those treated with no cream (p < 0.0001). Vaginal biopsies of women who had undergone vaginal ultrasound examinations and were treated with topical estradiol cream were significantly higher than those treated with no cream (p < 0.0001).
Estradiol tablets are commonly prescribed to treat men with irregular heartbeats, such as Premature Ejaculation (PE). PE can affect both men and women.
